Eight Former Tigers in PGA Tour Events this Weekend |
Clemson, SC-Eight former Clemson golfers will compete in the two PGA
Tour events scheduled this weekend. Lucas Glover, Danny Ellis, D.J. Trahan and John Engler will compete in the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic of New Orleans, while Brent Delahoussaye, Matt Hendrix, Kevin Johnson and Elliot Gealy will be in the field at the Nationwide Tour's BMW Charity Pro Am at the Cliffs in nearby Greenville, SC. Glover is currently the highest ranked former Tiger on the PGA Tour in terms of his #22 ranking on the latest money list. He was an All-American at Clemson twice over his four year career (1997-01). John Engler, a classmate of Glover during that 1997-01 time period will also be in the field in New Orleans. D.J. Trahan the national player of the year at Clemson in 2002, and leader of Clemson's 2003 National Championship team, will also take part. Ellis was the ACC Golf Champion in 1992 as a junior and was a three-time All-American between 1989-93. Kevin Johnson is the veteran of the group of Tigers in the BMW Charity Pro Am at he Cliffs. Johnson was the ACC Champion in 1988 and also won the 1987 Public Links Championship. Matt Hendrix, also a member of Clemson's National Championship team in 2003 and a two-time All-America at Clemson, will be in the Nationwide Tour event at Greenville this weekend. Brent Delahoussaye, a senior and All-ACC player on Clemson's 2005 team, and Elliot Gealy, a member of four top 20 teams at Clemson between 1995-99, also will compete.
