Todd Bramble Named Clemson Women's Soccer Coach

by -

Clemson, SC -- Todd Bramble, former assistant coach with the Clemson

men's soccer program, and most recently the head coach of the men's

soccer program at Butler University (Indianapolis, IN), has been

named Head Women's Soccer Coach at Clemson University. Senior

Associate Athletic Director Dwight Rainey made the announcement

Saturday afternoon.

Bramble replaces Ray Leone, who resigned in December to

become the head coach at Arizona State.

Bramble served as Clemson's top assistant under Head Coach

Trevor Adair from 1995-99. He was a major contributor to that

program's success. Clemson had three top 12 seasons and reached the

NCAA Tournament's quarterfinals twice and the Sweet 16 three times.

The 1998 team finished 22-2 with a number-one final regular season

ranking and an ACC Championship.

He became the head coach of the Butler program in the summer

of 2000 and directed that program last season. Prior to his career

at Clemson, Bramble served under Adair as assistant coach at Brown

University in Providence, Rhode Island from 1991-94.

Bramble also has international coaching experience. He was

an assistant coach of the United States under-17 national team that

competed in the World Championships in 1999.

Bramble received a business management degree from Mercer

University in Macon, GA in 1989. He was a two-time all-conference

goalkeeper at Mercer before spending one year in the National

Professional Soccer League with the Memphis Rogues (1989-90). The

native of Atlanta is married to he former Cindy Rivard.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to return to

Clemson from both a professional and personal standpoint," said

Bramble. "To be able to return to the ACC, a great university, a

great athletic department, and most importantly one of the elite

programs in women's college soccer is the opportunity of a lifetime."

"The selection committee and the women's soccer team are

excited about the new leadership Todd Bramble will bring to the

Clemson women's soccer program," said Senior Associate Athletic

Director Dwight Rainey. "Everyone feels he is the right person to

continue the national level of success we have reached in this

sport."
