PORTLAND, Ore. – adidas today announced a multi-year partnership with Clemson University All-American running back C.J. Spiller. One of the most explosive and dominant players in college football, Spiller is expected to be the first running back selected in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

As one of the new faces of adidas football, Spiller will be featured in adidas’ marketing efforts and is expected to play a role in the development of adidas football and training apparel and footwear. He joins the adidas NFL roster which includes Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints, Mario Williams of the Houston Texans, Lawrence Timmons of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Adam Carriker of the St. Louis Rams.

“I’m excited to be with adidas because they are committed to making the lightest gear that will make me even faster,” said Spiller, the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year. “With adidas I have a great opportunity to take my game to the next level and make my mark in the NFL next season.”

A four-year player at Clemson, Spiller joins Bush as the only players in college football history with 3,000 rushing yards, 1,500 kickoff return yards, 1,000 receiving yards and 500 punt returns yards. During his career, Spiller was a consensus All-American and set more than 30 conference and school records in various categories including all-purpose yards and career touchdowns.

“C.J. had an incredible college career and his accomplishments at Clemson in addition to his performance at the Combine make him one of the top prospects for the upcoming draft,” said David Baxter, Head of Sport Performance for adidas America. “We look forward to working side by side with C.J. to create products that will help make him faster.”

A three-time All-American in track at Clemson, Spiller ran a blistering 4.27 40-yard dash at the 2010 NFL Combine.

“C.J.’s combination of speed and strength sets him apart in this year’s draft and adidas products like the Scorch cleat and TECHFIT apparel will make him even faster,” said Baxter. “We are honored to add him on our team and are excited about what he will bring to the NFL gridiron next season.”
