says Clemson is the place he wants to be.

The Tigers’ 2014 quarterback commit out of Gainesville, Ga., says the recruiting process hasn’t slowed down despite his commitment to the Tigers, and all of the attention and phone calls from college coaches and the media are at times hard to process.

That doesn’t mean, however, that he is wavering on his commitment despite all of the attention.

“Everything has been going good for me,” Watson told TigerNet Monday afternoon. “I am still committed to Clemson. There have been a lot of schools trying to recruit me. But I am still committed to Clemson because that is where I want to be.”

Watson turned a few heads Monday with a tweet that could be interpreted that he was looking at other places. The tweet read "recruiting about to get real, mind in one place, heart in the other.”

Watson told TigerNet that it was merely a reflection of him keeping all of his options open.

“I am still looking at other schools just in case something happened at Clemson,” he said. “I have had some nice conversations with other schools. The only thing that could happen with Clemson is if they picked up another guy (QB) in my recruiting class. They told me that I was supposed to be the only quarterback, but if they picked up another guy I would just go to another university.”

He said there is a list of schools he hears from on a consistent basis.

“Florida, Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia are all recruiting me pretty hard,” he said. “And then I have been hearing from Ohio St., LSU and Southern Cal.”

Watson actually visited Auburn a few weeks ago with a friend.

“I went down to Auburn on his visit,” he said. “It was pretty cool to see another school, a big SEC school that won a national championship with Cam Newton. It was pretty nice down there.”

He then spent three days working with offensive coordinator Chad Morris at Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney

“I really enjoyed the Clemson trip,” he said. “I spent three days up there, got to see a lot of friends, and I got a lot of work done with Coach Morris. I learned a lot of new stuff, and there was a lot of stuff I learned that I can bring back to my high school. I enjoyed it.”

Watson said his goals for his junior season are simple – help his team win a state championship.

“This season is all about being consistent,” he said. “I want to work on my accuracy and footwork and not look at stats. Just take it one play at a time, and lead my team to its first state championship.”

Watson posted outstanding numbers in his sophomore campaign for Gainesville, connecting on 229-of-337 passes for 3,221 yards with 41 touchdowns, the most in the state of Georgia, and six interceptions. He also carried the ball 156 times for 1,073 yards and 16 touchdowns, leading his team to a 12-2 record in his second year as a starter.
