CLEMSON, SC – Two-year letterman running back Vince Ciurciu has asked to be released from his scholarship so he can transfer to another institution, Clemson head football coach Tommy Bowden announced Wednesday. The 6-0, 245-pound running back had been listed as second team fullback behind Terry Witherspoon all spring.

The native of Paramus, NJ played in 23 games the last 2 years, one as a starter. He ran the ball 30 times for 104 yards and caught 6 passes for 24 yards and a touchdown. His lone touchdown was scored on a pass from Tony lazzara on a fake field goal play at Virginia Tech this past season. Ciurciu’s top game rushing came as a freshman against Georgia Tech when he had 4-30 rushing. He was also a top special teams player and had nine tackles this past season.

Offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez said that red-shirt freshman Chad Jasmin would be listed as the second team fullback on the depth chart heading into August practice.
