- Clemson's defense had 11 sacks in the game, one shy of the school record. Charles Bennett, Trey Tate, Maurice Fountain, Eric Coleman, and Anthony Waters each recorded their first sacks of the season. Three players, Gaines Adams, Charles Bennett, and Trey Tate, each had two sacks.

- Leroy Hill had his team-leading sixth sack of the season, his third consecutive game with at least one.

- The Tiger offense had four rushing touchdowns on the afternoon. Clemson had just three scores on the ground all season entering today's contest.

- Jamaal Fudge's interception in the opening quarter was Clemson's second this year and just the fourth takeaway overall.

a Michael Collins had five catches in the first half, four for first downs. He had only four career catches entering today's game. He finished with a game-high six grabs for 64 yards.

- Reggie Merriweather's two-yard touchdown in the second quarter was his second career touchdown. He also scored in the third quarter on a four-yard run, giving him the first multiple-touchdown day of his young career.

- Gaines Adams had a fine all-around day for the Tiger defense. The sophomore defensive end had two sacks and a blocked punt, which was recovered for a touchdown.

- Bobby Williamson scored his second career touchdown after recovering a blocked punt by Gaines Adams. Williams's only other previous touchdown was against Georgia Tech on offense in 2002.

- Utah State was held to -20 rushing yards in the game. The school record was -29 by Furman in 1996. Clemson had given up 223 yards per game on the ground coming into the game.

- Clemson's special teams unit continued to excel, as the Tigers blocked their third punt of the season. The first two blocks resulted in safeties, while the one today resulted in a touchdown for Clemson. The last time a punt was recovered for a touchdown was on January 2, 1998 in the Peach Bowl against Auburn (Chad Speck 18-yard TD recovery).
