View Full Profile originally wanted to wait until after his senior season to make an announcement about his college choice, but Lamar told TigerNet this week that he now realizes he has seen everything he needs to see and will hopefully have an announcement before the end of the summer.

Lamar is a 4-star inside linebacker prospect out of Roswell (GA) who received a Clemson offer back in March of 2014 during a visit for one of Clemson’s Junior Days. Lamar has been a frequent visitor to the Clemson campus. He holds 35 offers from the nation’s biggest and best football schools but the Tigers have been firmly in the mix from day one, and now might have an answer on whether Lamar will choose Clemson before September.

“I talked to my family about it and I feel like it's probably a good idea for me to kind of get this out of the way and focus on Roswell High School and getting into college,” Lamar told TigerNet. “I just feel like it's a good situation for me and it will work for my benefit.”

View Full Profile frowns on commitments taking official visits to other schools. Lamar says he has no plans to take his official visits once he commits so that won’t be a problem if he winds up choosing the Tigers.

“Once I commit I won't take any visits to any other schools,” he said. “I've been to places like Clemson and Auburn and Alabama four or more times, so I feel like I've definitely gotten a good feel for the atmosphere there, so I don't feel like I need to see too much more.”

What makes Clemson stand out for Lamar, who tallied 131 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, four sacks and seven passes broken up during his junior season at Roswell?

Lamar says Clemson’s coaches stay in contact.

“I talk with Coach Venables through Twitter pretty often and then I talk to Coach (Tony) Elliott once in a while, too,” he said. “They just have been telling me how special of a place Clemson is and how I fit into the defense and what it's like to be a student at Clemson.”
