CLEMSON -- Marlboro County wide receiver Rendrick Taylor committed to the Tigers this week during a three-day camp at Clemson for high school recruits. The 6-foot-2, 210 pound Taylor is ranked one of the top five rising seniors in the state of South Carolina this year and already had offers from South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Florida State North Carolina, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Oklahoma, Alabama, Stanford, and Miami. “I like the school. My scholarship is guaranteed if I get hurt during high school,” he told The State newspaper. “I like the style of offense. All of the receivers have numerous amounts of catches, and I like the way they throw the ball around.”

Last season as a junior, Taylor recorded 30 catches for 803 yards and 11 touchdowns and on defense the safety had eight interceptions. Taylor could graduate in December and enroll in college in January and participate in spring practice of 2005. This past week Clemson also received a commitment from another wide receiver Tyler Grisham from Spain Park HS in Hoover, AL. As a junior, the speedy Grisham (5-11, 185, 4.40) had 338 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns and 62 tackles and 5 interceptions on defense. "The two side receiver commitments were another step in the building of this program," said recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler. "These two players are great additions to the Clemson roster but could not be more different in styles. Taylor is a national top 100-type player. He is a national recruit with great size and strength. Coaches love his athleticism and the chance he may graduate in December. Clemson's in-state presence has seen a significant upswing. This is one of the top five players in the state with tremendous upside.

Grisham is smaller but possesses great speed and quickness. Both players were ultra-impressive at Clemson's camps. Grisham is a player who has a great motor. He is very active. This is significant for a couple more reasons. First it keeps Clemson's momentum and name in Alabama. Second, it re-emphasizes Dabo Swinney's status as one of the top recruiters in the South. Clemson fans will like the way Grisham plays and will like the in-state victory for Taylor's commitment. Also both players can play on either side of the ball. These commitments continue a lot of momentum in this football program.” Scholarship Breakdown
