Best half of football played all year?

Yeah offensively and defensively. Defensively we played pretty good except for the first quarter and the last drive of the second quarter.

Things to build on from this game?

The biggest thing you want is momentum in conference going into to play Duke. We have never really played good up there and we need to realize now some of the opportunities we have. Duke is a much improved team. They got a new coach and they are playing with renewed enthusiasm. The environment is going to be totally different.

Talk about the position you have played yourself into.

The biggest thing is being 1-4 and having now the opportunity to go to a bowl game. I believe no team has been 1-4 and went to a bowl game in this conference. That says a lot about this team because we have a chance. Now we haven’t done it. We have to win another game but at least we have a opportunity.

Will you call your Dad and ask what the big deal is about beating Miami?

I've already done that. No I'll talk to him. He has played them for 30 straight years. There are some pointers he gave as far when you play them as far as mentality and generic plan of attack.

Has Reggie Merriweather created separation at running back?

Duane (Coleman) was out for a little bit and gained a little bit of weight. He was out 4 or 5, maybe even 6 weeks. He’s just not in the same kind of shape he was in before he was hurt. So Reggie has capitalized on an opportunity and created some separation.

Merriweather came out of the game with an injury. What is his status?

I think that was more cramps. He runs really, really hard. At 5-8 and 205 pounds he runs through arms. He runs over people against Miami. He’s a very hard nose, aggressive running style – kind of what we have been looking for. He moves the pile backwards.

Any other injuries?

Chansi Stuckey sprained the same ankle. Hopefully he will be a little further ahead this week than he was last week. Cliff Harrell sprained his ankle. He would be questionable. He didn’t play the second half.
