Brown hails from Columbus’ Carver High School, the same school that has produced Clemson’s Corey Crawford and David Beasley, Georgia’s Jarvis Jones and former Georgia player Isaiah Crowell.

Brown already packs 230 pounds on his 6-foot-6 frame, and his blend of size of speed has already drawn the attention of college coaches across the region, but he says he listens to the players who have come through the Carver program and doesn’t let all of the attention affect him.

“I see all of those guys once or twice a year,” Brown told TigerNet earlier this week. “I saw Isaiah just a couple of weeks ago, and he told me, ‘Don’t get too big. Don’t think you’re bigger and better than everybody else. Remember where you came from.’ I am going to listen to those guys.”

Brown said he is reminded of the tradition that Carver has, and he doesn’t want to be the one that disappoints.

“Carver has a dynasty type of feel to it,” he said. “I don’t want to be the one that lets everybody down, and that is just how I feel. I am going to keep working and getting better and better.”

Brown had already received offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida St., Tennessee, North Carolina and Duke when Clemson head coach Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney

gave the Clemson offer.

“I visited up there [Clemson] last summer, and I went to camp there,” he said. “That was the one offer I’ve been waiting on. It was about time. I was excited about that offer. My high school coach [Dell McGee] told me that Coach Swinney had offered me himself, and I was like ‘wow.’ That’s the offer I wanted.”

Brown also made the trip up to Clemson for the game against South Carolina, and he was blown away by what he experienced.

“The game I went to, when they played South Carolina, it was a really intense game,” he said. “I thought Tiger Walk was pretty neat, too. It is a quiet town, and that is a good thing. I really like the family atmosphere they have there. David and Corey were telling me about the coaches, and how they treat everyone the same.”

Brown said he plans on visiting Florida and Florida St. during the late winter and early spring, but hasn’t made up his mind which other campuses to visit.

As a sophomore, Brown had 50 tackles, nine sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
