Treadwell is rated as the number one player in the state by ESPN, which also rates him as the 42nd best prospect in the nation regardless of position and the fifth ranked wide receiver in the country.

He said he got the call on Tuesday when the contact period opened back up.

“I got the offer from Coach Jeff Scott,” Treadwell told TigerNet. “Clemson has been in contact with me for a long time, and I talked to one of their coaches earlier in the year. I kind of had a feeling they were going to make an offer.”

As a junior, he had 75 catches for 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he had 49 catches for 815 yards and seven touchdowns.

Treadwell has an impressive offer list, picking up 19 so far. That list includes Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas St., Notre Dame and Southern Cal.

He told TigerNet he knows a little bit about the Tiger program simply from watching television last season.

“I am a little familiar with them because of Sammy Watkins,” he said. “I loved watching him play, and I like their offense. Other than that, I don’t know too much but I want to learn more.”

He said he wants to make a trip to Clemson at some point in the near future.

“I want to take a visit there,” he said. “I was actually talking to my mom about that today, that I want to take a visit and see the campus and meet the coaches. In fact, I will probably use one of my official visits and take a trip down there.”

He said he doesn’t plan to make a commitment anytime soon, instead waiting until after his senior season.

“Probably when my senior season is over is when I will make my decision,” he said. “I want to take some visits over the summer and then a couple of more once the season is over. I am planning on taking my time, and visiting each place, and then I will do what is best for me.”
