Tigers offer 4 star Georgia WR

The 6-1, 180-pound athlete out of Tucker (Ga.) High School now boasts a dozen offers after both Notre Dame and Clemson offered this past week. His other offers are from East Carolina, Florida St., Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Louisville, N.C. State, South Carolina, Central Florida, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.

Williams, who doubles as a wide receiver and a defensive back, said that the Clemson offer came on Thursday of this past week.

“My high school coach told me about it on Friday,” Williams told TigerNet Sunday. “And then I talked to my recruiter, Marion Hobby, on Friday and he reiterated that. He told me they want me to play wide receiver at Clemson.”

Williams said that even though he has played corner and safety in high school, wide receiver is the position he loves to play the most.

“I feel like I have to be a receiver,” he said. “I have played it since my sophomore year and just fell in love with it. I love having the ball in my hand, and I want to keep working to get better. I feel like it’s an underrated talent, but I also feel like I am a great blocker. I love blocking downfield, especially if my teammate can score. If he gets free, I am either going to be beside him or in front leading the way for him.”

Williams said he liked what he saw out of the Clemson offense this past season.

“They have a mobile quarterback,” he said. “I also know they have the awesome Sammy Watkins. He had a great campaign this past year. He is very explosive and a very fast receiver. He will probably go pro in a couple of years.”

Another plus for Clemson is the fact that Williams has a great relationship with Hobby.

“Me and Coach Hobby have a great relationship,” he said. “We talked just two days ago, and we just had a normal conversation. Nothing extreme. Nothing about football. He has kept it real for me the whole time. He was actually the first coach that told me I could play on both sides of the ball. I was very humbled by that, because Clemson is a great program, a great school and they have a great football team. I try to talk to him at least twice a week.”

He calls the offers he has received an “honor.”

“It really is an honor and a blessing to get all this attention from the different colleges,” Williams said. “The offers have come almost daily. It humbles me to be in a situation that only a select few get to be in. The recruiting process right now is wonderful. I want to see what all of the schools have to offer, because this might be the most difficult and important decision of my life, because education is so important to me.”

Williams said he hopes to make a decision by August, and also hopes a trip to Clemson will be in the works soon.
