Tigers making late push for one of Georgia’s top quarterbacks

The Clemson Tigers are making a late push for one of the state of Georgia’s top quarterbacks, and his head coach says Joshua Dobbs is giving Clemson serious consideration.

Dobbs is a 6-4, 190-pounder 3-star out of Alpharetta High School that committed to Arizona St. last June, but took a visit to Tennessee last weekend and has seen the Clemson coaches come in for a visit this past week.

His coach at Alpharetta said the Tigers are definitely in the running.

“All of his choices have a shot,” Jason Dukes told TigerNet. “He understands what Clemson is, and what kind of reputation Coach [Dabo] Swinney has and what they have done over the past couple of years. He understands all of that and he is thinking about it.”

Dukes said he doesn’t know when Dobbs and the recruits’ family will make a decision, but he doesn’t think it will take too long.

“He and his parents are going to sit down and make decision,” Dukes said. “They don’t want to see a long, drawn out, dramatic thing. They will sit down and weigh their options and have an answer as soon as they feel they are ready. Josh has a lot of things he is going to evaluate, and once he feels like he has made the right decision, he will let everybody know.”

View Full Profile stopped by Alpharetta earlier this week to speak to Dobbs.

“They told Joshua that Clemson is a great place to be and they are an up-and-coming football program,” Dukes said. “They were in here, and just telling him about football at Clemson, the academics and the kind of school it is.”

Dukes said the Tigers wanted to get Dobbs in for a visit to Clemson this weekend, but Dobbs was unable to make the trip due to family reasons.

Tennessee has also been after Dobbs, especially since new head coach Butch Jones took over.

“They have been after Josh for a while,” he said. “They know what kind of player he is. But he has let everybody know that he is still committed to Arizona St., and until he tells me something different, that is what I have to go with.”

During his senior season, Dobbs passed for 3,265 yards and 29 touchdowns with 11 interceptions.
