loved everything about his Clemson visit, so much so that the Tigers are now the leaders for one of the nation’s top 2013 defensive end prospects.

The McDonough (Eagles Landing Christian) Ga. 4-star prospect was on the Clemson campus this past weekend, and said he got to see a different side of Clemson he has never had the experience of seeing before.

“Overall, the visit was great,” Rochell told TigerNet Sunday evening. “I got to see Clemson from a different perspective. I got to see the academic side, and I got to see some of the academic facilities. I really like being there, and I like the atmosphere at Clemson. Overall, it was just a good visit.”

The 6-5, 240-pounder has offers from almost every major school east of the Mississippi River, but told TigerNet that Clemson sits atop a list of favorites that includes Florida St., Georgia, Georgia Tech, Alabama and Oklahoma.

“Clemson is very, very, very high,” he said. “They are pretty much at the top. At Clemson, it’s just one of those things where you don’t understand it unless you experience it. It’s everything overall – the campus, the atmosphere, the football program and lots of different things.”

He said he got to spend a lot of time with defensive ends coach and recruiter of record Marion Hobby.

“We really just got to know each other better,” he said. “It was just building a relationship with your position coach. He is a great guy to talk to.”

He said he also got to spend time with new defensive coordinator Brent Venables.

“I actually got to talk to him on the way to the basketball game,” Rochell said. “We sat on the back of the bus together, and we talked. He is excited to be at Clemson. He is a very energetic guy, and you can tell he is going to be successful. That was exciting.”

He said he hopes to make a decision before the start of football season, and hopes to make it back for another visit.

“I don’t know if I will make it back for camp in June or not,” he said. “I am trying to decide that. But I know I will be back.”

As a junior, Rochell recorded 97 tackles, seven sacks and 25 tackles for loss at defensive end.
