Tigers land 2014 DT prospect at All In Cookout

View Full Profile out of Leland (NC) North Brunswick committed to Clemson Friday evening while attending the cookout with several of the Tigers’ current 2014 commits. He is the first defensive line commit for the Tigers in the 2014 recruiting cycle.

TigerNet spoke with North Brunswick head coach Garry Bishop Friday evening, and he said that he was not at all surprised when he received a call from Clemson defensive tackles coach Dan BrooksDan Brooks

“Coach Brooks actually told me that he committed earlier tonight,” Bishop told TigerNet. “I wasn’t at all surprised that he committed to Clemson. They did a really good job recruiting him. Coach Brooks did a great job. It’s a great school and a great program. How can you go wrong with all of that?”

Bishop said that only after a year of hard work did Robinson realize that he had the potential to play at the collegiate level.

“Jabril is going to be a great college player,” Bishop said. “He hasn’t even begun to touch his potential. He just started working hard and busting his butt this past season. I tell you that as his coach, but he would tell you the same thing if you asked him. His first couple of years, he didn’t really put in the time and effort, but his past season he really started working hard and he saw the potential that was there. He has a lot of potential and is going to be a really good college player.”

As a junior, the 6-3, 256 pound prospect had 70 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and 20 tackles for loss.

However, Bishop said that Robinson is multi-talented and could have a future on either the offensive and defensive lines

“In high school a kid can play multiple positions,” he said. “He plays defensive end, defensive tackle and offensive tackle for us. I don’t know where they want to use him, but he is very talented. He is aggressive when he puts his hand down. He’s got good speed, good feet and good movement. He can play defensive end or defensive tackle in college. And, some schools saw his potential at offensive tackle.”

With offers UNC Charlotte and East Carolina and interest from North Carolina and North Carolina St., Bishop said that Robinson was taking the recruiting process at his own pace

“Jabril has been making his own choices and taking the recruiting process slow,” Bishop said. “I only talk to him about it when he asks me something and I tell him. Recruiting varies for every person and you have take what fits you and what you think is right for you and your situation. That’s just how it goes.”
