CLEMSON RECRUITING

Tigers get commitment from one of South's finest

by -

In perhaps a mild surprise arguably the South's finest offensive

tackle prospect, Sean Young, has verbally committed to Clemson. Recruiting

analyst, Mickey Plyler, rated Young as the second best overall prospect from

Georgia.

Young who is 6'8", weighs 290 lbs., and benches 355 lbs. played for NW Whitfield

high school in Cohutta, Georgia. He was the Tigers' only official visit

this past weekend and he said he had a great visit.

"I loved it down there. They made me feel at home and I've

been to FSU, Arkansas, Tennessee and places like that," Young said.

"I committed to them because I thought it was best place for me and

the coaches are great. I just know in my heart it was the right

place for me."

Sean also had been on official visits to Arkansas and Florida St. before coming

to Clemson. He had an upcoming visit scheduled to Tennessee but he has decided to cancel it.

"The way I feel to be the best you have to play with the best and be coached by the best. I think it's (Clemson) better Florida St, better than Arkansas, and better than Tennessee. I think this is future of NCAA football."

Young also liked the fact that he has a chance to get some early playing time on the Clemson line.

"Coach tells me if I do what I need to do all summer I have a chance

possibly to start my freshman year and definitely be second team.

The timing and situation is great for me."

"Pass blocking, strength, and quickness" are the strengths of

Young's football game but he also said he needs to work on getting lower

since he is so tall. He also believes he will need to get even stronger

and quicker for college football play.

His older brother, Bubba Young, plays for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tigers will once again renew its rivalry with the Bulldogs in a few years.

"I'm looking forward to playing Georgia in a few years and of course I think

we will win."
