Tigers get commitment from 4-star wide receiver Demarcus Robinson

CLEMSON – The Clemson coaching staff is off to a sizzling start at the inaugural All In Cookout, picking up two commitments early in the afternoon.

Robinson becomes the lucky 13th commitment for the Tigers in the 2013 recruiting cycle.

Robinson told TigerNet that he met with Swinney and decided that now was the time to commit.

“It just felt like home,” he said. “I felt like it was the right time to commit. I was talking to Coach Swinney in his office, and at first his wife was in there, and then it was his son and me and my mom. I told my mom right then that I wanted to commit. Coach Swinney was happy.”

The nephew of former South Carolina and NFL wide receiver Marcus Robinson, Robinson is rated as the No. 117 player in the country by Rivals and sits at No. 156 in the ESPN Top 300 list.

Robinson said he arrived on campus for the cookout, and knew it was time to pull the trigger.

“I had to come up here and see what it was like,” he said. “I love it. I love the coaches, I love the family atmosphere and the coaches and the facilities. From the first time I came here for camp, it felt like home. I love the view, and it just seems like home here.”

He said he also has a great relationship with recruiter and future position coach Jeff Scott.

“He is a great coach, a great family guy and he is always laughing and smiling,” he said. “He is going to be a great coach.”

As a junior, Robinson caught 52 passes for 1,024 yards and 10 touchdowns. He said he runs a 4.4 40-yard dash, and thinks he will be a great fit in Clemson’s offense.

“I can fit in anywhere on the field,” he said. “They throw the ball down the field, and if they throw it down the field I am their guy. But I can also block or do whatever they need me to do.”
