CLEMSON, SC -- Saturday was a successful day for the Tigers. Not only did they avenge last years’ defeat by the North Carolina State Wolfpack, but they picked up commitments from two instate prospects that were attending the game.

According to MickeyPlyler.com, Trey Tate, a 6-5, 240 pound defensive end from Gaffney, SC, committed to the Tigers during an unofficial visit for the Clemson – North Carolina St game.

“Tate is very athletic player with long arms and outstanding speed for someone his size,” said recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler. “We love the potential of this player and see him putting on 40-50 pounds in college and playing defensive tackle. This is a tremendous pick-up for the Tigers. He reminds us of former Clemson defensive end Adrian Dingle right now.”

Tate gives the Tigers commitments from three prospects from Gaffney High School’s very talented defense. The other two commitments from Gaffney are linebacker Roger McIntosh and defensive lineman Jeff Littlejohn. Mickeyplyler.com ranks Tate as the No. 12 prospect in South Carolina overall. Tate also had interest from Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Virginia, and Michigan State.

Also according to MickeyPlyler.com, linebacker Roosevelt Nelson from Crestwood high school in Sumter, SC also committed to Clemson this weekend while attending the NC State game. The 6-2, 205 pound senior benches 315, squats close to 500, runs the 40 in 4.5. He has 82 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, and 2 picks so far this season.
