Tigers Gain Commitment, Working on Another |
CLEMSON -- Wide receiver Chris Jefferson (6-2, 170) of Morganton, NC (Freedom HS) has committed to Clemson over Wake Forest. Jefferson made his official visit to Clemson over the weekend and was leaning to the Tigers after what he called a great trip.
Jefferson caught 54 passes for 600 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. He had 40 catches for 750 yards and 10 touchdowns in his senior campaign. ”Coaches that recruited Jefferson like his versatility,” said recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler. “He can run and he jumps very well. Some schools think he can be an excellent wide receiver but others like him as a safety. This is a nice pick up for the Tigers.” Besides Clemson Jefferson also visited Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and Duke and was scheduled to visit Boston College next week. He also had offers from Virginia and Colorado. Clemson assistant Mike O'Cain recruited Jefferson for the Tigers. Also on the recruiting front for the Tigers, Clemson assistant Burton Burns could wrap up a commitment from New Orleans linebacker Nick Watkins (6-2, 215) tonight. Watkins’ high school coach said he thinks Burns will probably secure a commitment from Watkins after an in-home visit tonight. Watkins also visited the Tigers over the weekend. 2003 Reported Commitments 1 QB C.J.
