CLEMSON RECRUITING

Tigers Add Running Back Commitment

by -

CLEMSON -- Running back Brandon Nolen from Old Bridge, N.J committed to the Tigers on Thursday. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound back selected Clemson over Wisconsin. He was recruited by Clemson defensive coordinator John Lovett.

“This is a nice pick up for Clemson for several reasons,” said recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler. “One it is a position of need. They wanted to sign at least one quality back and Nolen accomplishes that. Also because of his size and speed his versatility is another major factor. Nolen could play several positions such as secondary. And also this establishes John Lovett back in New Jersey and back in the Northeast.”

Brandon had offers from Clemson, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Wisconsin. He made his official visit to Clemson last weekend and had previously visited Wisconsin, Rutgers and Wake Forest.

In high school, Nolen rushed for 3,356 yards and scored 48 touchdowns. In 2002, he gained 1,180 yards on the ground for a 7.9-yard average.

Nolen also excels in track. As a junior he was both the Central Jersey, Group 4 champion and the Greater Middlesex Conference champion in the 100. His best time was 10.7. He has been timed at 4.3 in the 40-yard dash.
