Return of Quarterback

Brandon Streeter returned to practice today and received lots of repetitions for the first time in several weeks. “My throwing is 100% percent, close to it,” said Brandon. “I was doing sprint outs, roll outs, straight drop back passes.” Tommy Bowden said of Brandon’s play, “He did good. He threw the deep balls and short balls good. Also, crossing routes, outs, drop backs was good.” Bowden also commented that Streeter would probably be the emergency type quarterback as opposed to starting like some speculation in the media.

Return of Quarterback Part II

Woody Dantzler returned to full practice today after sitting out on Sunday. Bowden said “Well he hobbled a little bit but I think he will be ok. I know that we will have probably have two or three options.” Woody appeared to very relaxed and in good spirits in practice today.

Who to Kick and What?

Bowden said that he would know around Thursday who would kick for the Wake Forest game. Both the kick-off and field goal positions are once again up for grabs during practice. Campbell was used on kickoffs against FSU because he does a good “sky kick”. However, Bowden commented with a laugh that, “He messed up and kicked it too deep and not high enough.”

Key to success

Scoring defense is one of the most important keys to success in Tommy Bowden’s opinion. “The most important statistic for winning a national championship is scoring defense, not rushing defense. The national champion from the last ten years has had an excellent scoring defense. Miami was a national champion. Florida State and Alabama was also national champions with number one rated scoring defenses.”
