Tiger Notebook: Tigers continue to get healthy and prepare for Wake |
Streeter update
Brandon Streeter showed no signs of soreness as he practiced for the second day in a row. “I don’t think he has any soreness,” said Bowden. “Doctors will clear him by Friday or Saturday at the earliest. I believe there is really no chance for him (Streeter) to start this Saturday. He might have to come in on the second play though," Bowden replied with a smirk. Dantzler < 100% Woody Dantzler is still not 100%, and he practiced in shorts today. “This was his first start against Florida State and usually people get banged up against them.” Bowden said. “So that is what happened to him when we ran him like we did.” Pump up the volume The quarterbacks today played under artificial crowd noise to help prepare for road games. “It really makes us concentrate,” said Bowden. ”We only did it for half of the time.” Go for it The delicate situation of field goal kicker has continued to draw the attention of head coach Tommy Bowden. “I’ll probably make the decision about the kicking a hour before the game,” Bowden said. “We are rapidly proceeding towards a system of four down territory. Warp speed toward the four down system.” Injured Tigers continue to return Will Merritt returned to practice for the first time in several weeks. “We will make a decision on his play on Friday,” said Bowden. However, he did wear an orange jersey today which is usually the sign of a healthy player. T.J Watkins returned for the second day in a row and played against the first team. “He looked ok,” Bowden said. Defensive Honors Keith Adams leads the ACC in tackles and some are starting to consider him for ACC Defensive Player of the Year. When asked about Adams and the award, Bowden said, “I haven’t thought about it right now. When you are 3 and 4, you really don’t think about it. That is really far off in the distance. He’s playing well right now though.” Players can not be nominated for awards until after the Duke game.
