CLEMSON -- The Clemson University Marching Band will start a new pre-game tradition during the 2002 football season.

90 Minutes Before Kickoff, a mini-concert and pep rally,
will be held one-hour-and-a-half before each Tiger home
game, at the Outdoor Theatre in the center of campus.

"The new pre-game concert replaces the Tiger Band warm-up session that took place at the Strom Thurmond Institute in past years," said Mark Spede, director of bands.

Tiger fans can look forward to hearing university favorites
as well as selections from the half-time shows. Near the end
of the mini-concert, the Clemson cheerleaders will join the band for a pre-game pep rally.

"The venue is more conducive for the pre-game event," said Spede, "because it's designed for outdoor events, with seating areas and better acoustics."

After 90 Minutes Before Kickoff the Tiger Band will takes
its traditional march through the heart of campus, traveling from the outdoor theater towards Memorial Stadium on Fort Hill Street.

Tiger fans should make this a part of their pre-game ritual, says Spede. "Before or after tailgating, I encourage them to hear the band."
