J.J. Howard was second on the team in sacks.

Injuries


J.J. Howard-suffered knee injury (torn ACL) on his sixth play
of the Virginia game and is out for the season. Howard started each
of the first six games this season and was second on the Clemson team
in sacks with four.


Gene Pate-starting holder suffered broken leg while running
down the hill prior to Saturday's game with Virginia. Lost for the
season.


Khaleed Vaughn-starting defensive end did not play against
Virginia after undergoing knee surgery on October 5, questionable for
NC State.


Eric Sampson-Starting WHIP linebacker. missed Virginia game
with a sprained ankle. Questionable for NC State.


Airese Currie-starting wide receiver. Missed Virginia game
with a sprained ankle. Questionable for NC State.


Defensive Stats


Jamaal Fudge led Clemson in tackles on Saturday against
Virginia with 20. He had 16 first hits and four assists. He tied
the Clemson single game record for tackles by a defensive back.
Charles Hafley had 20 against Maryland in 2001.


John Leake was second in tackles with 13, while Leroy Hill
had 11. Lionel Richardson was next on the list with seven.

(28.4).


Team is 23rd in passing offense per game (279.17) and 27th in
total defense, allowing 317.3 per game.


Individually, Charlie
Whitehurst is 20th in total offense, with 272 yards per game. He is

game.

Justin Miller is 18th in the nation in kickoff return
average.

Derrick Hamilton is 25th in all-purpose running yards per
game.


NC State


Clemson defense will face an NC State team that is fourth in passing

offense. Philip Rivers is second in the nation in total offense and
eighth in passing efficiency. Jerricho Cotchery is 14th in receiving
yards per game, while punter Austin Herbert is 22nd in punting.
