Clemson, SC—Former Clemson All-American C.J. Spiller will receive two national honors for his kick return prowess during the 2009 season at halftime of Clemson’s Spring Football Game on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 PM at Death Valley.

Spiller will be the recipient of the 2009 National Kickoff Returner Trophy from the College Football Performance Awards, which selects recipients based on objective scientific rankings. He will receive the award from Executive Director Brad Smith and assistant director Dr. Harold Smith.

Spiller will also receive the Bill Hartman Award for the top Special Teams Player in the nation. The award is present by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta in honor of former University of Georgia player Bill Hartman. Presenting the award is Dennis Caniglia, the President Elect of the Touchdown Club of Atlanta.

Spiller finished the 2009 season with four kickoff returns for touchdowns and one punt return for a score. He finished his career with an NCAA record seven kickoff returns for scores. In 2009 he averaged 32.8 yards per kickoff return, third best in the nation.

The native of Lake Butler, FL finished sixth in the 2009 Heisman Trophy voting, tied for the highest in Clemson history. He established 32 Clemson records for his career, including all-purpose running with 7588 yards, second most in NCAA history.
