Sources: Person of interest sought in Rock vandalism case

CLEMSON – The investigation into the vandalism of Howard’s Rock could be coming to an end.

TigerNet spoke to two different sources close to the ongoing investigation early this morning and learned that there is a person of interest in the case, but no arrest has been made.

Clemson University police chief Johnson Link couldn’t be reached for comment, but TigerNet spoke with a person close to the case who confirmed that there was a person of interest. A second call confirmed that fact.

Howard’s Rock was vandalized in the early morning hours of June 2nd, and the clear plastic covering over the rock was removed and a large chunk was taken out of the rock.

TigerNet brought you photos of the rock that showed the vandalism shortly after the news was released on June 12th. On June 20th, the Clemson University Police Department released a video of a white truck that spent 13 minutes outside of the gate that sits in front of the rock.

TigerNet has also learned that the video generated several good leads for the Clemson police, but it isn’t known at this time if one of those leads has led to the current person of interest.

We will have more information as it is released.

Update: There will be a press conference today(6/28) at 2pm: http://www.tigernet.com/update/football/Press-Conference-set-2PM-Howards-Rock-investigation-11464
