, who hopes to name a replacement for Harbison after the bowl game. The interview with Reed is believed to be the third Swinney has conducted, following interviews with Samford assistant Sam Shade late last week and Oklahoma St. assistant coach Jason Jones earlier last week.

Reed played at Boston College, and coached at Richmond before working with the defensive backs for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles from 2002-2006. In 2006, he took the job at N.C. State.

At N.C. State, he coached 2011 Thorpe Award finalist David Amerson.

As a recruiter, Reed has extensive ties in the Southeast, and Clemson defensive back commit Jadar Johnson told TigerNet last week that he heard from Reed more than any other recruiter.

Southern Cal defensive backs coach Marvin Sanders, who also has ties to the area, is also believed to be interested in the position.
