and Chad Morris easily come to mind when people discuss who might be the most responsible for Clemson’s best start in a decade.

However, there might be two other names out there that bear consideration – Audrey Sehorn and Bridget Sehorn.

Don’t recognize the names? It’s not surprising, considering they aren’t players or coaches. But they have been faithful to Clemson head coach Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney

, making sure they give him a high-five and a hug each week.

Sixteen times over the past three seasons, the sisters have been either at a Thursday practice or in line at Tiger Walk, and sixteen times they have given Swinney his high five and hug. The Tigers have also gone 16-0 in those games.

Last season, the girls’ parents – Clemson professor Michael Sehorn and his wife Hilarie – were only able to make it to practice four times. The Tigers won all four games.

This season, Dr. and Mrs. Sehorn (he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson) have made sure that Audrey, who is six, and Bridget, who is four, have given Swinney his high five eight times.

Thursday made number nine.

“We have been doing this since Bridget was a baby,” Hilarie said just before practice ended. “Last year, we didn’t make it to all of the games because the schedule didn’t match up. We do away games here at the practice field, and we do the home games during Tiger Walk. Coach Swinney has gotten to where he is now looking for them.”

The sisters wear shirts that say “High Five Me Keep the Streak Alive” on the front and the back of Audrey’s shirt says “Tigers’ Lucky Charm No. 1” and Bridget’s says “Tigers’ Lucky Charm No. 2.”

The girls were intent on just being girls as they patiently waited for practice to end, their squeals of laughter as they played with a friend showed they didn’t possess a care in the world.

Practice ended, however, and the girls lined up to catch high fives from the coaches and players as they left the practice field, giving each one a “Go Tigers” as they passed by. The high five started to catch on as the Tigers began their streak.

And lest you think the girls aren’t passionate about Clemson football, Dr. Sehorn tells this story of what happened when the Tigers played at Maryland a few weeks ago.

“I was watching the game and they had been playing,” Sehorn said. “They came in there and asked me how the game was going, and I told them Clemson was behind. They started watching, and the Tigers immediately came back. Audrey fell asleep watching the game, but even in her sleep she was saying ‘Go Tigers’.”

The girls even wanted to meet the team when the Tigers made the late return from Virginia Tech, but wiser heads prevailed.

“They wanted to come out, but momma said no,” Dr. Sehorn said. “And I wasn’t wining that one.”

The sisters then waited patiently for Swinney to appear, and he marched over and gave them their hug and high five.

“That’s my high five girls over there,” Swinney said. “I would be very disappointed if they weren’t here today. That is a sweet family and I see the girls here and in Tiger Walk. I am at a point now where I look for them. They have some good karma or something going on.”
