Simmons Announces Plans to Leave Clemson |
CLEMSON – Highly prized quarterback Willie Simmons announced today that he will transfer to another school in hopes of getting a chance to play in the NFL.
“After thinking about it for a long time and weighing all my options, I felt that my best opportunity to pursue my career and play on the next level would be to leave Clemson University and further my career somewhere else,” said Simmons. “There are a couple of schools I am looking at thoroughly - Florida A&M, Valdosta St and the Citadel” The decision was a difficult one for Simmons. “The four years I have been here have been tremendous,” said Simmons. ”I have met some wonderful people. People that I will never forget, and people I can always count on for the rest of my life if I needed anything. It’s always hard to leave a place where you feel like you have become family, and I feel like Clemson is my family. My blood still bleeds orange and it always will.” By going to go to a Division I-AA school or lower, Simmons will be eligible to play next year. He said a decision on the school could come in June.
