Recruiting: USC Firings Pushing Hamlin To the Tigers |
Michael Hamlin Defensive back / wide receiver Lamar High School 6'3", 191 lbs. SCVarsity.com #5 Player in South Carolina Michael Hamlin has been a threat on both sides of the ball for Lamar, which will play for the 1-A state title this Saturday. As a receiver, he has 30 catches for over 400 yards, scoring five touchdowns. As a defensive back, he has four interceptions and 60 tackles.
Although Hamlin has received an offer from Vanderbilt, and will make an official visit to Duke on January 24, he has made it clear that his choice will come down to either Clemson or South Carolina, both of which have offered. Hamlin has been looking hard at both schools all season long, but said South Carolina's recent firing of several coaches has forced him to take a harder look at Clemson. "I was surprised when Coach Cosh got fired," Hamlin said. "When they did that, it made mean lean more towards Clemson. I will make my choice after my official visits are over." Hamlin will visit Clemson on January 9, and South Carolina on January 17. He was in attendence for the Clemson - USC game. Coach Burton Burns is recruiting Hamlin for the Tigers.
