Mike McIntosh Wide Receiver 6-2, 180 Jacksonville, FL (First Coast) In one of the worst kept secrets in recent memory, prized prospect Mike McIntosh of Jacksonville, FL, announced his commitment to play for Clemson on the Fox Sports Net show "Countdown To Signing Day” on Wednesday. McIntosh is ranked as one of the top fifteen wide receivers in the country and selected the Tigers over LSU, Auburn and instate schools Florida and Florida State. “It’s a great situation for me to come in and play as a true freshman,” said McIntosh. ”Derrick Hamilton leaving played a big role in my decision. I knew Tony Elliott was leaving and also Kevin Youngblood was leaving. I knew it was a great opportunity for me to go in and play right away." McIntosh also liked the stability of the Clemson coaching staff. “Up at Clemson it is a great coaching situation. I know Coach Tommy is going to be there the next seven years.” After his junior season at First Coach High School, McIntosh switched from quarterback to receiver and pulled in 28 receptions for over 500 yards and seven touchdowns. He credits his time at quarterback and reading defenses in helping him to be a star receiver. McIntosh made his official visit to Clemson this past weekend and was hosted by Clemson receiver Kelvin Grant. “Me and him (Grant), as soon as we got together, we clicked just like that,” said McIntosh. “Then I talked to all the other players like Kevin Youngblood and Tony Elliot. I asked them about the school and Coach Swinney. They said it is a great school, and he is a great guy who will push you to work till the best of your ability. That’s how I look at it.” McIntosh will be joined at Clemson by his teammate defensive back Brandon Croley who has also committed to Clemson. Other recent Tigers from the Jacksonville area include: - Kevin Youngblood WR Raines HS
- Eric Sampson LB White HS
- Gerald McCloud WR Arlington Country Day HS
