Michael Hamlin

Defensive back, Lamar High School

6'3", 191 lbs.

Bench presses 250 lbs.

SCVarsity.com #5 Player in South Carolina

Michael Hamlin had nine interceptions and 96 tackles as a junior, but

proved to be a double threat with 35 receptions and seven touchdowns

at wide receiver. As a senior, he had 35 catches for 400 yards with 4 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles and 75 tackles.

Hamlin took an official visit to South Carolina over the weekend. “It went great,” said Hamlin. “It was better than I thought it would be.”

Hamlin was also impressed with Clemson where he visited officially last weekend. Clemson linebacker Anthony Waters was his player host.

“It was great. The team was like one big family. The coaches were like the parents of the family so that got my eye.”

He has a trip scheduled to Duke this weekend, but he is not sure he will make that trip. Currently, it seems the Tigers are the team to beat for Hamlin’s services, and he could have a decision fairly soon.

“Clemson has a slight edge but I wouldn’t throw Carolina off right now,” said Hamlin.”My parents and I are talking about it. I would say next week or later this week (for a decision). Something like that.”

When making a decision, Hamlin is looking at two things - the team’s depth chart and if the school has his Sports Management major.

“Clemson is looking at me at like 3 different positions so I feel like I could play early there,” said Hamlin. “Carolina needs safeties. I think I can play early there too.”

Clemson assistant Burton Burns is recruiting Hamlin for the Tigers.
