Clemson returns Charlie Whitehurst for his junior season and he will
continue his assault on the Clemson record book. Whitehurst could end his career as the top quarterback in Clemson history. With Whitehurst firmly entrenched as the starter, the Tigers have questions to answer about the direction of his backup.

In his redshirt freshmen season Chansi Stuckey performed very well. His
open-field ability reminds some of Woody Dantzler. However, Stuckey is too good of an athlete to not be on the field and he looked very comfortable at wide receiver in the Duke game.

Will Proctor also saw time at wide receiver and appears to be a
third-teamer if he stays at quarterback. The Clemson staff could not be more excited about the future of C.J. Gaddis, however, the question is where will he fit in this offense. Much like Stuckey, Gaddis is a phenomenal athlete that needs to see the field. In his true freshmen season Gaddis was a surprise as the scout team quarterback and he may have the inside track on the backup job heading into the spring.

The athleticism of Stuckey and Gaddis make this spring practice very
interesting. The Tigers will sign one or two quarterbacks in the Class of 2004.

Clemson received an early commitment from Cullen Harper (6-3, 200) of
Canton, GA. Harper had several offers from ACC/SEC schools including state rival South Carolina. Ron West is the Clemson recruiter who is involved with Harper.

If Clemson gets another commitment from a quarterback it could come
from the group that includes Jordan Steffy (6-2, 195) of Lancaster, PA, William Richardson (6-4, 210) of Sumter, SC, John Parker Wilson (6-1, 190) of Hoover, AL or Brandon Satcher (6-1, 185) of North Augusta, SC.

Steffy has already taken official visits to Michigan State (10-3),
Clemson (11-8), Penn State (11-14) and Virginia Tech (11-22). His final official visit will be to Maryland(12-5). All five have offered and Steffy claims no favorite. He will announce his commitment on December 11th. John Lovett is recruiting Steffy for the Tigers.

Richardson is the younger brother of former Penn State quarterback
Wally Richardson. William help lead his Sumter team in the state championship this weekend and the Shrine Bowl in two weeks. He has set visits to Clemson and N.C. State. Maryland, South Carolina and Virginia are also in the running for visits. Dabo Swinney is the Clemson recruiter on Richardson.

Wilson is also a highly rated baseball prospect. Alabama, Clemson, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Tennessee are involved with Wilson. Dabo Swinney is recruiting Wilson for Clemson.

Satcher is a newcomer to North Augusta as ge transferred to the school
over the summer. He has set an official visit to South Carolina (1-16). Clemson, Maryland and Ole Miss are also involved. Clemson has not offered to this point. Ron West is the Clemson recruiter for Satcher.
