CLEMSON RECRUITING

Recruiting: Aaron Kelly Commits to the Tigers

by -

Aaron Kelly Wide receiver Walton High School (Marietta, GA) 6'5", 175 lbs, 4.5 seconds When his high school football career came to an end, Aaron Kelly immediately began to look into the possibility of playing in college. He had offers from Clemson, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Marshall, and Duke. He planned on taking official visits to as many schools as possible, and said he would make his decision as soon as the visits were done. True to his word, Kelly finished his visits, and announced his choice, Clemson. "I chose Clemson because they had the best balance of academics and athletics," Kelly said. "I made my official visit on January 16th. Tony Elliot was my player host, and the things went great." Although he was leaning towards Clemson early in the recruiting process, Kelly said that wide receiver Derrick Hamilton's recent choice to make himself eligible for the NFL draft factored into the choice. "Another big reason I chose Clemson was because they said the opprotunity was there to play as a freshman," Kelly said. "Derrick Hamilton leaving could open more doors, but I have to earn those opprotunities by working hard." Kelly had 55 receptions for 955 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Walton Raiders, which finished the regular season with a 10-0 record and advanced to the second round of the Georgia state playoffs. Clemson coach Ron West is recruiting Kelly, who is on track to qualify academically, for the Tigers. Clemson Commitments 1. DB Brandon Croley (6-0, 180, 4.5) Jacksonville, FL 2.
