Rambert, Hamilton Remain Questionable for Georgia

CLEMSON - The final full scale practice before Saturday's season opener came

and went Thursday with no better news on two of Clemson's main offensive

weapons.

Running back Bernard Rambert and wide receiver Derrick Hamilton both

practiced sparingly Thursday, according to offensive coordinator Brad Scott.

Each remains listed as questionable for Saturday's 7:45 p.m. kickoff vs.

Georgia in Athens.

"Neither could go the whole series anytime we were out there," said Scott,

addressing the media in place of head coach Tommy Bowden, who left practice

early to do his weekly radio program.

"I think they're both still limited in their execution. We've still got two

days before we have to play it, but you'd have to say they're both still

questionable right now."

Both players will undergo "as many treatments as possible" today and prior to

the game Saturday with trainer Danny Poole, Scott said. The hope is between

treatment and rest, Hamilton and Rambert will have enough time to recover

sufficiently.

If neither player is 100 percent, Scott said, it's unlikely they would start

if Bowden holds true to his word.

"Coach Bowden has said that if a player isn't 100 percent he won't get the

start. But obviously that's his decision, and he'll wait and see how they

recover over the next two days."

Meanwhile, wide receiver Kevin Youngblood had another good practice Thursday

and has been upgraded to probable for Saturday. Either he or J.J. McKelvey

will start at the X-receiver.

True freshman Kelvin Grant continued to be impressive working at that spot,

as well. Scott said if any of the true freshmen play Saturday, Grant would be

the most likely candidate.

And senior Wynn Kopp, who spent the first two years of his college career at

Georgia, seemed to solidify his grip on the punting job with a good day

Thursday.

"He's actually had two good days in a row," Scott said. "I think this game

means a lot to him."
