RECRUITING: Clemson Prospects in the GA-FL All Star Game

by -

Last weekend these talented prep football stars got an experience similar to that of a college bowl game with their participation in the Georgia/Florida High School All-Star Football Game. Arriving a full week prior to the game, players went through practice sessions in the mornings, then visited Atlanta area attractions in the afternoon and evenings. They also visited kids in the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta hospitals.

Below are some of the Tiger prospects from the GA roster. Clemson did not have any prospects that we knew of on the Florida roster. One reason for this was there was another all star game during the same time period that many of the Florida kids attended instead of the GA-FL one.

#2 DeMario Minter DB (6-0, 180) Stephenson High School The top cover corner in Georgia this season. As a junior, he made 35 tackles and had two picks despite opponents rarely throwing in his direction. Considering: GA, NC, CL, AUB, MARY
#3 Chansi Stuckey QB (5-11, 180) Warner Robins High School Team Captain. Named MVP and Best Offensive Player. Named Blue Chip Player of the Week and Papa Johns Player of the Week. Named to the Georgia Super 11.
Considering: TN, CL, FSU, FL, GA
#12 Jeff Francoeur DB (6-4, 205) Parkview High School Team Captain. 5-A Defensive Player of the Year in 2000. Atlanta Journal-Constitution male athlete of the year in 2000 and 2001 spring season. His team won two state championships. As a junior, led the state with 15 interceptions along with 800 receiving yards and 14 TDs. He is expected to be a very high pick in next June's Major League Draft. Francoeur hit .520 with 20 home runs last spring. He also played on the US Junior National team in Cuba. Played safety, wide out, tight end, returned kicks, and held for XPs in GA-FL Allstar game. CL leads Ole Miss and NC
#45 Marcus Jackson DL (6-3, 230) Norcross High School All-County Defensive Lineman of the Year. Lineman of the Week by the Atlanta TD Club. Named Gwinnett County Player of the Month. As a junior, Jackson had 114 tackles and 14 sacks. Considering: FSU, GA, GT (Clemson is working for a visit)
#56 Donnell Clark LB (6-2, 249) Griffin High School “Blessed with size and strength, Donnell has many intangibles that make him a great football player and a person. His intense leadership has made him a great football player on the field and an outstanding person in the community,” said his high school coach Steve Devoursney. Considering: GA, FSU, AUB, CL, ECU
#71 Antonio Mercier OL (6-6, 335) Washington Wilkes He also plays basketball and has participated in track. He won the state in the discus. All Northeast Georgia Dream Team. “Great player.
