CLEMSON -- Clemson football freshmen held their first practice today from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
The new players will also practice at 4:45 PM. They will have two more practices on Wednesday. The four practices for the freshmen are held on the practice fields behind the Jervey Athletic Center and are open to the public.

First Day Impressions
It's a very athletic group, got height, got some pretty good skill guys, just not familiar with intensity of drills but a very athletic group.
First time we have had OL numbers, which is encouraging. Will try to get that done one more year. Kids just worked today on fundamentals, stretching, things like that. Intensity will pick up, especially when the Varsity gets there.
Overall conditioning of Freshmen?
Good, not really concerned about conditioning this point and time, concerned with upper classman, but already have a feel of that since they were on campus.
What type of impact will they make right away?
Some of them will get oppoutunity. Pretty talented group. Like I said, 1st year, I think I signed 9, then 12, then over 20 and over 20. Some of larger classes have been the last two, so there is more to pick and choose from that might contribute, so just by percentages, the odds increase because of numbers. But there could be a couple that could contribute early. You would like to be able to RS them all, but hoping we can RS most of them. I think that the 3 that are not here yet, should be here shortly. Got a good feeling about all of them, just a technicality.
Any idea on who will play early?
Like most coaches, you have a pretty good feel about these guys. Kids put more pressure on themselves. There may be some surprises.
Competition is the greatest motivator. Hopefully that has been created in a lot of positions.

Really talented, had 19 or 20 sacks at Fort Union in a one year. Played 8 man football in Greenwood, so a lot of question marks were there. Had a year of stronger competition. Has put on about 20 lbs over the summer, up to about 240—250, about 6’4"-6’5". Real excited about him. Really appreciate Coach Tanneyhill for helping us out because he probably felt uncomfortable doing that.

Both incoming QB’s looked pretty composed. Both have good grasp of position as far as basics and fundamentals.

No idea...saw it on the internet couple of times. Coach Stock talked about it a little bit, but I don't know her.

Yeah, a friend of mine knows her, but I have never met her. I have seen in internet that I have dated her. I have seen on internet where she is going to come sing National Anthem, but I guess there could be worse rumors going around.....(laughing)
