Bowden on Rendrick Taylor's big day

“He has been one of the more consistent performers. For a true freshman he has showed a lot of maturity on his part because we are fairly multiple on offense from a formation standpoint, and he has played so many possessions. It was a pretty impressive performance by him not just today, but that’s the way he has been since he stepped on the campus."

On his overall feel for the day

"The defense had a pretty good day when we went out there and scrimmaged...Of course we had a couple of (offensive) weapons in Aaron Kelly and Chansi Stuckey (out), and Jacoby Ford was limited, but we are hoping to have enough weapons offensively where we can be fairly productive on a consistent basis more so than in the past. I have been pleased with the progress we have made on both sides of the ball."

On the play of C.J. Gaddis

"All my comments since I have been here is he has tremendous potential, and his performance had not matched his potential. But I think potentially you can see what he is capable of doing. Now consistency his next step."

On Will Proctor's interceptions

"I need to look at that on tape. Some I didn’t get to see them because I was having to do television interviews, but the one I saw late was an underthrown ball."

On Proctor's overall status

"He didn’t have a whole lot to travel. Last year he was the MVP of the spring game and was 22-of-24. His practice performance, spring game performance (last year), Texas A&M performance and Duke performance, he had been pretty solid. He hasn’t had to travel a long way this spring because he didn’t have a long way to travel. His (question) is how he is going to manage the team? You couldn’t see that today because it is hard to draw any conclusions from that today."

On his team's depth

"I have more depth since I have been here. I think I had more players coming back by second year at Tulane. But at Clemson this is the deepest we have been."

On the other interceptions thrown by his quarterbacks

"I didn’t see two of them, but I saw one of them and I thought he gave the receiver a chance to make a play and he didn’t do it. Now I did see the one down there where the safety rotated down. I think he did learn from that. I wouldn’t be too worried because he has done too many good things and showed so much improvement to be concerned about what happened today with split teams."
