Possible No. 1 player has Clemson in the mix

The Orangeburg-Wilkinson defensive end standout out has a long way to go before making a decision, but the Clemson Tigers will be in the mix when Huggins inks his name in 2015.

Huggins told TigerNet that he grew up a Georgia fan, but the Tigers are making their way to the top after several trips to Clemson.

“Georgia has always been my dream school, but when it comes time for me to make a decision Clemson is going to be right there,” Huggins told TigerNet Sunday afternoon. “I don’t really have any top schools. Everybody is kind of even right now.”

Huggins made the trip to Clemson for the Tigers’ third spring practice and he came away impressed with the intensity of Clemson’s Paw Drills.

“I visited Clemson last month. I really enjoyed myself, he said. “I learned a lot Clemson. I’d like to go back. Their work ethic on and off the field. They are all about the academic side too. In football, they are very successful. I was just down for spring practice but they did a couple of Oklahoma (Paw) Drills and that was pretty intense. That’s what I like to see and what I like to do.”

Clemson was the second team to offer Huggins- right after South Carolina- and Huggins said he was excited when he received the phone call from defensive line coach Marion HobbyMarion Hobby

“Coach Hobby offered me. It’s a great feeling for me,” he said. “Clemson is pretty close to home. They have a great defensive line. They are going to be there when I get ready to sign.”

Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and Georgia have also offered.

The 6-4, 270 pound prospect said that when he is on the field he just wants to do whatever is asked of him.

“I really don’t even know. I’ll tell you truth,” he said. “I’m really an all-around defensive lineman. Whatever they need me to do, I’ll do.”

As a sophomore, Huggins accounted for 70 tackles, seven sacks, four tackles for loss, and three fumble recoveries including one returned for a touchdown.
