Overton says Clemson is "pretty much at the top" after three-day visit |
Clemson’s high school camp left a lasting impressing on 4-star wide receiver

Diondre Overton The 6-5, 195-pounder out of Greensboro (NC) Page spent three days on campus last week and worked out in each session of
Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney “The camp was great. I really loved the opportunity to get to work with the coaches and how they interacted with us,” Overton told TigerNet. “I learned a lot from them. It was a great atmosphere and opened my eyes more about Clemson and what more Clemson has to offer.” Overton worked out under the watchful eye of Scott, who would be Overton’s position coach and offensive coordinator at Clemson. Overton called it a learning experience. “It was good working with Coach Scott, but also at times it was frustrating because I would feel like I was doing things the right way and he would then turn around and show what I should be doing,” Overton said. “But that was also a great learning experience and he is a great teacher. That was just another advantage to camp was getting to work with him.” During one of Saturday’s sessions, Swinney parked his golf cart in the endzone and spent several minutes acting like the receivers coach he used to be. One of his main targets was Overton. “That was very interesting. It made me feel like he was the wide receivers coach,” Overton said. “I know he was before he became the head coach, and you could see that. It just shows how much he is into it and he just wanted to be involved.” Powell, out of Greenville (NC) Rose, committed to Clemson earlier this year and hasn’t been shy in trying to get his friend to commit. The duo also roomed with 2017 4-star receiver
James RobinsonJames Robinson “We pretty much were together the whole camp. Being with those guys was great,” Overton said. “Cornell and I grew up together, so we had that bond. I just met James there, and he was pretty cool. It was great being out there with those guys, especially because it upped the level of competition. It was a great opportunity.” Overton will attend UNC head coach Larry Fedora’s “Freakshow” showcase this weekend, take a visit to Tennessee that was set up by his father and then hopefully attend Clemson’s All-In Cookout in July. Where does Clemson stand heading into the rest of the summer? “Clemson has made a big impression on me,” Overton said. “They are pretty much at the top. I love Clemson, and I love the atmosphere there.”
