One of nation's top 2014 linebackers to visit Clemson next week |
One of the nation’s top linebackers for 2014 will be on Clemson’s campus next week for a visit as part of a summer recruiting tour.
Raekwon McMillan “My position coaches and I are coming up for a visit,” McMillan said. “I am probably going to be up there for five hours or so. I want to tour the campus, and talk with coach Jeff Scott for a while. I also want to see some of the players, and maybe get to meet Sammy Watkins or Tajh Boyd.” McMillan already holds offers from the who’s who of college football’s elite, and boasts invites to the U.S. Army All-American Game and the Under Armour All-American Game. He runs a 4.6 40-yard dash, and might be the top player in the state of Georgia for 2014. He told TigerNet the purpose of the visit is to get a better feel for what life would be like at Clemson. “I have never been to Clemson, so this will be my first visit,” he said. “I want to see the whole campus, get a feel for academics, see what Clemson feels like on a regular day. I want to see if it is the kind of place where I would want to go to college.” McMillan said he will also visit Ohio St. next Friday for their Friday Night Lights extravaganza, and also hopes he can make a trip to Auburn at some point in the next week. The other schools on his summer tour are Georgia, Florida and Alabama. McMillan said that he doesn’t have any favorites at this point, but can say which schools are recruiting him the hardest. “Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State are recruiting me the hardest,” he said. “And then Auburn and Alabama. Those are the schools I hear from the most and want me there on visits.” He hasn’t let the grind of recruiting wear on him, however. “I am just taking it easy and having fun with it,” he said. “I am not getting aggravated with all of the calls and stuff. I am just h appy to be in this position and having fun with it.” As a sophomore, he recorded 84 tackles with 16 tackles for loss.
