New Jersey wide receiver gets Clemson offer

View Full Profile of Sicklerville (NJ) Timber Creek, the 11th offer for Jennings in a recruitment that will more than likely pick up steam after he walked away with the offensive MVP award at a recent Rivals event.

Jennings told TigerNet how he found out about the offer.

“My head coach called me and he told me to call Coach Venables,” Jennings told TigerNet. “I called and talked to him, and he told me they were offering me. He said that the Clemson coaches enjoyed my tape and they really enjoyed how I play.”

Jennings said that despite being in New Jersey, he already knows a good bit about the Clemson program and that it was one offer he was waiting on.

“I know a lot about them, but I haven’t had a lot of contact with them,” he said. “I really wanted that offer, and I was surprised when it came. I know that Clemson has a great program, and they run the spread offense. I know their stadium is Death Valley and it always has a great atmosphere. I have heard that it is a great college town, and I know that Coach [Dabo] Swinney is a great coach with a great history.”

He has also heard about Clemson’s run of excellent wide receiver play.

“I know that Nuk [Hopkins] just got drafted in the first round by the Houston Texans,” he said. “And of course I know all about Sammy Watkins. He came in his freshman year and made an impact. He is exciting to watch.”

Jennings said he hopes to make it to Clemson for one session of Swinney’s high school camp in early June, and he hopes he can spend more time with the coaches and see the campus on his visit.

“Clemson has great coaches, and even though it is a ways from home, I just want to get comfortable with the coaching staff. I want it to be a great visit. I want to see what they have to say and see the campus.”

Jennings said he doesn’t have a top five, but Clemson is near the top of his list.

“I don’t have a top five yet, because I’m not ready to make a decision,” he said. “But if I did have a top five, Clemson would be in there.”

He then said he thinks he is the kind of receiver that would flourish in Clemson’s offense.

“I feel like I am a great receiver, but I can always improve on things,” he said. “I don’t think I have achieved my potential yet. I can run good routes and I can catch the ball. I am a big, physical receiver and I like to block. I am not afraid of contact. I am not afraid to go across the middle, and I feel like I am a student of the game.”
