CLEMSON – After a season of offensive line depth problems the Tigers have obviously made the line a focus in recruiting as Monday night the Tigers added Mario Henderson, their fifth offensive lineman commitment out of nine total commitments.

The 6-foot-7, 330 pound Henderson from Lehigh Acres, FL selected the Tigers over NC State. Henderson had been leaning to the Tigers and decided to commit to Clemson assistant Brad Scott after a school visit on Monday.

The senior offensive tackle was scheduled to visit Clemson last weekend but had to cancel. “I had a very important basketball game,” said Henderson who plays center. “My coach asked me to see if I could reschedule.”

Henderson will visit Clemson this weekend and had a visit planned to NC State the weekend after but he is not sure if he will make that trip. Besides Clemson, Henderson had offers from Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Louisville, Florida, and NC State.

Henderson is ranked as the #89 best prospect in Florida and the #15 offensive lineman in Florida by the Orlando Sentinel. He was selected to the second team offense on the Class 4A all-state team.

Henderson is a strong prospect who won the strength award at Miami’s camp this summer. Due to a transfer conflict Henderson had to sit out his junior season.

Last season Lehigh had two huge senior offensive tackles in Henderson and teammate Jerome Springfield who is 6-foot-8 and 320 pounds. Henderson said Springfield is also interested in the Tigers along with Pittsburgh. Springfield is ranked as the #94 best prospect in Florida by the Orlando Sentinel.
