CLEMSON – Tickets in the Clemson sections for the 2010 Meineke Car Care Bowl are still on sale, and Clemson’s allotment of tickets are selling at a steady pace.

The game will be played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on December 31s,t at noon, and pits the Clemson Tigers of the ACC against the South Florida Bulls of the Big East.

Travis Furbee, the head of Clemson’s ticket department, said lower level tickets are still available.

“We haven’t sold the entire allotment yet, but we are up to 9,000 out of our obligation of 12,500,” Furbee told TigerNet on Friday. “We have sold completely out of the Club Level seats, but we still have upper level and lower level seats right now. Ticket sales have been very encouraging, because we sold 200 or 300 per day over the last week.

“Usually with a bowl game, you have about seven days after the bowl is announced where the sales are heavy, and then it just dies off. We haven’t had that. So there seems to be a lot of orders still coming in. I think a lot of people are just waiting until closer to the game to decide to go.”

Tickets in the lower level are $75 and are $40 in the upper level.

One offer that the ticket office presented to Clemson students has yet to be fulfilled – the ticket office is offering lower level tickets to the first 500 Clemson students for $50 apiece. As of Friday afternoon, however, there were still 150 of those tickets remaining.

Furbee said that Clemson’s allotment of 12,500 is average for a bowl game.

“Bowl allotments range from 8,000 in Nashville (Music City Bowl) to 10,000 for the Champs Bowl to 17,000 for the Chick-Fil-A Bowl,” he said. “So that is average for the number of tickets we usually have to take. If they go unsold, at that point we will either partner up with bowls or the military or make sure they go to underprivileged kids.”
