Keith Adams named ACC DL of the week for fifth time |
OFFENSIVE BACKS - LaMont Jordan (RB) Maryland
In winning ACC offensive back honors for the second time this season, Jordan, a 5-11, 215-pound, junior from Forestville, Md., turned in the third best individual single-game rushing effort in ACC history when he ran for 306 yards and two TDs on a career-high 37 carries in Maryland's 34-30 loss to Virginia Saturday. Had a career-best 90-yard scoring jaunt in the third quarter en route to setting Maryland single-season records of 1,632 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns rushing. OFFENSIVE LINEMAN - Brett Williams (T) Florida State Williams, a 6-6, 320-pound freshman from Kissimmee, Fla., played a major role in Florida State's 30-23 victory over third-ranked Florida Saturday. Williams graded out at 93 percent with five intimidations and five cut blocks as the Seminoles won their 21st straight regular season game. DEFENSIVE LINEMAN - Keith Adams (ILB) Clemson Clemson inside linebacker Keith Adams had another outstanding game in the Tigers' 31-21 victory over South Carolina. In winning the award for the fifth time this season, Adams set an all-time Clemson single-game record with 27 tackles, including 18 first hits and nine assists. The Marietta, Ga., product also had two quarterback sacks and four tackles for losses. DEFENSIVE BACK - Adrian Duncan (CB) Wake Forest Duncan, a 6-1, 188-pound sophomore cornerback from Dayton, Ohio, played a key role in the Deacs' 26-23 upset of Georgia Tech Saturday. Duncan tallied nine tackles on the day, including seven solo hits, and had a key interception in the second quarter His most important play, however, may have came with 2:27 left to play when he recovered the Jackets' onside kick attempt. SPECIALIST - Josh McGee (PK) North Carolina North Carolina's Josh McGee accounted for 20 of the Tar Heels' 38 points in their win over Duke. The 5-9, 180-pound senior from Pearl, Miss., tied a 23-year-old ACC single-game record by making all six of his field goal attempts. McGee connected from 22, 23, 40, 41, 41 and 50 yards in tying the previous ACC record set by Duke's Vince Fusco who kicked six field goals against Clemson on October 16, 1976. ROOKIE - Billy McMullen (WR) Virginia McMullen, a 6-4, 195-pound freshman wide receiver from Richmond, Va., caught the winning touchdown pass with 26 seconds remaining in Virginia's 34-30 come-from-behind win at Maryland, clinching the Cavaliers' 13th consecutive season with seven wins or more. For the game, McMullen caught a season-high six passes for 78 yards with a long of 20 yards.
