plans to make his college choice this weekend at Nike’s The Opening.

The Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter 2013 wide receiver standout has narrowed his list down to Clemson and Oklahoma St., and he said he can't wait to make his decision and get on with his senior season.

“I really haven’t been able to talk with the Nike people about it, but it will probably be Sunday,” Jenkins said. “It will mean a lot to get it over with.”

In the meantime, the brother of Clemson defensive back Martin Jenkins is happy to be a part of Nike’s
signature summer event.

The Opening, held July 5th-8th, is held at Nike’s world headquarters in Oregon and is an invitation-only event for the nation’s best high school players. Each player is put through a series of skills competitions, and they receive coaching as well.

Jenkins arrived in Oregon Thursday afternoon, leaving from Atlanta on a flight that included many of Georgia’s top players.

“We had a five-hour plane ride,” he said. “It was a lot of fun. I know a bunch of those guys, and for some of them it was their first plane trip. We had a lot of fun with them. We haven’t been to the headquarters yet, but we are about to load the bus and head out there. Of course, I am excited to be here. I remember looking at it on ESPN last year and thinking, ‘I have to get there.’ That is one of the things I have been training for in the off-season.”

Jenkins spent part of last weekend on the Clemson campus, not only spending time with his brother but with good friend and 2013 running back prospect Alvin Kamara Alvin Kamara

“We had a good time,” he said. “I actually went up there and spent a lot of time with the players. I got to spend some time with Sammy Watkins, and we basically just hung out. It was good just getting to know some of the players better.”

He said that recruiter Tony Elliott was also on hand.

“Coach Elliott told me that Clemson is building something special,” he said. “He told me they are building a great recruiting class, and that he wants me to be a part of it.”

football camp a few weeks ago.

"I had a great time at camp,” he said. “I got to get on the field and compete a little and I got to spend a lot of time with Coach Swinney. He kept telling me that he would love the opportunity to coach me. I always loved getting coached up by Coach [Jeff] Scott. He has a lot of energy and knows what he is talking about."

Sunday, the recruiting process ends as he makes his verbal commitment to either the Cowboys or the Tigers.

He said each school holds something special for him.

“Oklahoma St. has great facilities and a great campus,” he said. “In fact, they have the best facilities I have seen and it has a real small-town feel. I also have a great relationship with the coaches. At Clemson, I love the family atmosphere and the coaches. Clemson also has the best fans in the world. No question.”
