Clemson, SC—Jeff Davis has been named assistant athletic director for player relations on Dabo Swinney’s Clemson football staff. Davis has been with the Clemson Athletic Department for the last six years as an assistant athletic director in fund raising.

“Jeff Davis is a great resource and I want him involved in this football program on an every day basis,” said Swinney, who became Clemson Interim Head Coach on Monday when he replaced Tommy Bowden. “Jeff will be involved in many areas of our program. He is a great role model for our young men.”

Davis was the MVP of the ACC and a first-team All-American on Clemson’s National Championship team in 1981. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame last year. He also played in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In 1999, he returned to the Clemson as field director of the Call Me Mister program within the Department of Education, Health, and Human Development. Call Me Mister seeks to recruit, train, certify, and secure employment for African American males as elementary teachers in South Carolina's public schools. In 2001, Davis received a $100,000 award for the program from Oprah Winfrey's "Angel Network."
As a fundraiser he has been significantly involved in the West Endzone initiative.
