Harper Named ACC Offensive Back of the Week

OFFENSIVE BACK

Clemson quarterback Cullen Harper was today named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Back of the Week after leading the Tigers to a 49-26 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. Harper, a junior from Alpharetta, Ga., completed 20 of 26 passes on Saturday for 270 yards. With five touchdowns, he set a new Clemson record, including four in the first-half, another school record. Harper?s pass efficiency rating of 227.8 was the third best in Clemson history given a minimum of 20 attempts.



OFFENSIVE LINEMAN

Tom Santi, Tight End, 6-5, 250, Senior, Nashville, Tn.

Tom Santi, a tight end for the Virginia Cavaliers, has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference?s second Offensive Lineman of the Week. The Nashville, Tenn. senior caught six passes on Saturday for 54 yards and two touchdowns in Virginia?s 24-13 home win over Duke. With his performance on Saturday, Santi became the first Virginia tight end to catch two touchdowns in a game since Heath Miller in 2004. In addition to his strong play as a receiver, Santi helped block for an offense that did not give up a single sack and rushed for almost 200 yards on the day.



DEFENSIVE LINEMAN

Jolonn Dunbar, Linebacker, 6-0, 233, Senior, Syracuse, N. Y.

Boston College middle linebacker Jolonn Dunbar was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his play on Saturday against NC State. Dunbar, a senior from Syracuse, N.Y., had eight total tackles, including four solo ones, and returned an interception 14 yards for a touchdown in the Eagles? 37-17 win over the Wolfpack at Chestnut Hill, Mass. The interception return was his second-for a touchdown In all, he has four interception or fumble returns for touchdowns .



DEFENSIVE BACK

Durrell Mapp, Outside Linebacker, 6-2, 225, Senior, Burlington, N.C.

Burlington, N.C. native Durrell Mapp of the North Carolina Tar Heels has been chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Back of the Week. Mapp, a junior outside linebacker, had 18 tackles, including one for a loss, in North Carolina?s last-second defeat at East Carolina. With 27 total tackles in his first two games, Mapp now leads the ACC and ranks ninth nationally in tackles.



SPECIALIST

Brandon Tate, Wide Receiver, 6-1, 190, Junior, Burlington, N. C.

North Carolina?s Brandon Tate has been tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference?s Specialist of the Week. Tate, a junior from Burlington, N.C., returned a punt 58 yards for a touchdown in the Tar Heels? 34-31 loss at East Carolina, tying a school-record for career kick returns for touchdowns with five. He also added 100 yards on kickoff returns in the game, including one 49-yarder to set up a North Carolina touchdown. For the game, Tate finished with 263 all-purpose yards.




ROOKIE

Jonathan Dwyer, Running Back, 6-0, 197, Freshman, Marietta, Ga.

Georgia Tech freshman Jonathan Dwyer was today chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week. Dwyer, a running back from Marietta, Ga., rushed nine times for 138 yards and three touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets? 69-14 win over Samford on Saturday. Dwyer?s rushing total was the fifth-largest single game mark ever for a Georgia Tech freshman and the fourth-most ever by a true freshman in school history.
