Clemson, SC - Clemson safety Michael Hamlin and offensive tackle Barry Richardson have both been named preseason All-Americans by Street & Smith Magazine. The college football annual also ranked Clemson #22 in the nation in its preseason publication and has Clemson running back C.J. Spiller on the cover of its Southeast region edition. The publication will be available on newsstands in early July.

Hamlin was named a second-team preseason All-American as a safety. The junior from Timmonsville, GA started 10 of Clemson's 13 games last year when he had 64 tackles and five tackles for loss. He missed three games last year with a broken foot. Hamlin had two interceptions for 90 return yards and his 132 career interception return yards rank eighth in Clemson history after just two seasons. Hamlin had 55 tackles in 12 games as a freshman in 2005.

Richardson was named a third-team preseason All-American at offensive tackle by Street & Smith. The senior from Mount Pleasant, SC was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2006 when he had 75 knockdown blocks, second on the Clemson team. He was a big reason Clemson ranked sixth in the nation in fewest sacks allowed and fifth in rushing offense. Clemson also ranked in the top 20 in the nation in total offense and scoring offense.

A starter in each of Clemson's last 32 games, Richardson was earlier named a first-team preseason All-American by Athlon. He is also on the preseason list for the Outland Trophy as announced by the Football Writers Association of America.

Spiller joined Hamlin and Richardson on the preseason first-team All-ACC team selected by Street & Smith. Spiller gained 938 yards rushing as a freshman when he averaged a school record 7.3 yards per carry, fourth best in the nation. He had six touchdowns of 50 yards or more in 2006, also a Clemson record for one season and he is just one off the school record for a career. He was named a first-team Freshman All-American by Rivals.com and The Sporting News.
