CLEMSON RECRUITING

Greenwood Kicker Still Firm to Tigers

by - Correspondent -

Greenwood Kicker Jad Dean, who committed to Clemson less than a week ago, received an offer from the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend.

"I was contacted by Coach Fabris at UGA," said Dean, "and offered a scholarship."

Dean, who was preparing for an "unofficial" trip to Georgia this week when the offer from Clemson Coach Tommy Bowden came in, says that the Tigers have nothing to worry about.

"I gave my word on it - its a committment," said the senior kicker. "I'm supposed to call Coach Fabris at Georgia and talk to him, but I'm solid with the Tigers."

Dean, who is currently ranked 12th in the Rivals100 kicker's rankings and has offers from Clemson, LSU, and Georgia, says he is unsure if he will take any visits at this point, but is adamant about his commitment with the Tigers being solid.

"My parents would kill me if I went back on my word," said Dean. "Really, there is nothing for the Clemson people to worry about. I'm a Tiger now."

2003 Reported Commitments

1 OL Jarrod Britt 6-5 270 Powder Springs, GA

2 QB C.J. Gaddis 6-1 197 Raeford, NC

3 K Jad Dean 5-11, 190 Greenwood, SC
